Quadrennial Ethics Training

Between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2008, every REALTOR® is required to complete 2 1/2 hours of Code of Ethics training. REALTORS® who have completed this training as a requirement of membership in another association are not required to complete additional ethics training until the next four year cycle.

All REALTOR® members may take a CE course in Ethics in order to meet the mandate. Associations are required to provide access to such training. Failure to comply with this required ethics training is a violation of a membership duty for which the member’s primary association will suspend membership until the training is complete.

To complete the mandatory Code of Ethics training, you have a number of options.

You may complete the training online at NAR's REALTOR.org website.  To access the training module you will need a user name and password for the realtor.org website.  You must create your own username and password after providing the system with your NRDS number.  If you do not know what your NRDS number is, you may contact GNIAR for this information.  Click here to link directly to NAR’s online program.

You may complete the training as part of your CE requirements, provided the Ethics Class is approved for NAR's requirement.  All Ethics Classes offered through GNIAR meet the requirements of NAR.  For more information on Ethics Classes offered by GNIAR, contact Kim Rozek.

By completing the Ethics training included in the Orientation programs offered by GNIAR, you meet the NAR requirement for Ethics training.

You may complete the requirement via another vendor whose class has been approved by NAR for Code of Ethics training.  If you complete the requirement through a course offered by an independent vendor, please be sure to provide proof of having met the requirement to the staff of GNIAR in order to receive credit for completion.

Note: Individuals must use their own REALTOR.org ID and password for accurate tracking of course information on the REALTOR.org website. The same REALTOR.org ID and password must be used when exiting and re-entering the course.  You generate your own ID and password for REALTOR.org by utilizing your NRDS ID number.  Your NRDS number can be found on your address label from you copy of NAR’s REALTOR® Magazine.  If you need further assistance obtaining your NRDS number, please contact the GNIAR Membership Coordinator, Matisha Gossett, in Member Services

Residential and Commercial Practitioners: The online course offers the ability to customize the content for members working in either residential or commercial real estate. When registering, you'll be asked to choose the appropriate course track - residential or commercial.

If you have any questions regarding the Code of Ethics training program requirements or if you need to complete an Ethics training program and would like to take an Ethics class through GNIAR, please contact the GNIAR Education Coordinator, Kim Rozek.
